Is it a YouTube ad or a sponsor read?
Check first what you are seeing. A YouTube ad has its own countdown, an ad label and often a “Skip” button, and sits outside the video's timeline. A sponsor read is the creator talking about a product inside the video; scrubbing the timeline moves through it.
Premium removes the first kind. YouTube's help page says Premium members may still see branding or promotions embedded in the content by the creator.
How do you remove the sponsor reads too?
No YouTube plan removes them, because they are part of the video. Your options are manual seeking, community timestamps such as SponsorBlock, or AI detection such as SponsorSkip, which reads the captions and skips the sponsor automatically in Chrome.
Common questions
Does YouTube Premium Lite remove all ads?
No. YouTube says ads may still appear on music content, Shorts and when you search or browse with Premium Lite.
Why do I see ads on my TV but not my phone?
The TV is probably signed in to a different account, or not signed in. Premium applies only to the account that holds the membership.
