FAQ
A few things
worth knowing.
01Where can I install SponsorSkip?
SponsorSkip is in beta. The Chrome Web Store link will appear here when the public release is available.
02What does SponsorSkip skip?
Sponsor reads recorded inside YouTube videos. YouTube-served ads, such as pre-roll ads, are separate.
03How is it different from SponsorBlock?
SponsorSkip analyzes the video’s transcript. SponsorBlock uses viewer-submitted timestamps. SponsorSkip can analyze a captioned video before anyone has marked its sponsor segments.
04How does AI analysis work?
The AI beta processes available captions through our backend and an AI provider. Completed results are saved, so the same video and transcript don’t need to be analyzed again.
05What have detection tests shown?
An unreleased version detected about 98% of clearly assessable sponsor and self-promotion time in 20 development videos. A follow-up test on 20 previously unseen English-language videos totaling about 6 hours 44 minutes detected about 71%, so the earlier result did not carry over. These are transcript-based tests with AI-assisted reference annotations, not a general accuracy guarantee.
06What happens to the transcript?
Caption text is processed for the analysis and kept temporarily while a job is pending. We retain video IDs, transcript hashes, sponsor timings and account usage. Transcript search and your local corrections stay in the extension.
07How do the 10 free videos work?
You get 10 different videos once per account. Watching the same video again uses no extra allowance. A successful analysis with no sponsor still counts; a technical failure does not use a place permanently.
08What does Pro cost?
€3.99 per month or €39.99 per year. Checkout and subscription management use Stripe.
09What if a skip is wrong?
Click Undo to return to where you were. Your correction is saved locally. Detection can make mistakes.
10Does every video work?
Transcript analysis needs usable YouTube captions. If they are unavailable, the video may not be eligible for analysis.
