How to install SponsorBlock in Firefox

It takes about a minute, and the add-on is free:

  1. Open the SponsorBlock page on addons.mozilla.org and check that it is listed by Ajay (SponsorBlock).
  2. Click Add to Firefox and review the permissions.
  3. Open a YouTube video. The SponsorBlock icon in the toolbar shows segments for that video and lets you submit new ones.
  4. In the add-on's options, set Sponsor to skip automatically and decide what to do with the other categories.

What does the Firefox add-on ask for?

When we checked on October 8, 2026, the listing showed version 6.1.7 (updated July 13, 2026), about 807,000 users and a 4.8 rating. Required permissions covered youtube.com, sponsor.ajay.app and youtube-nocookie.com; access to all websites was optional.

Does it work in Firefox for Android?

Yes. The same add-on is listed as available for Firefox for Android, which makes Firefox the simplest way to skip sponsors on an Android phone.

Is there an AI sponsor skipper for Firefox?

SponsorSkip is not available for Firefox at the moment; it is a Chrome extension. If you use Firefox as your main browser and want AI detection on videos nobody has marked, you would need Chrome for those videos for now.

SponsorBlock not skipping in Firefox?

Check that the video actually has a submitted segment, that Enhanced Tracking Protection or another add-on isn't blocking requests to sponsor.ajay.app, and that the Sponsor category is set to skip.
